The Technical University of Košice was established in 1952 to serve the needs of Eastern Slovakia for education and research and we are proud of its connections with the origin of technical university education in Slovakia founded by the Empress Maria Theresa.
The university has nine faculties and about 12,000 full-time students. It provides courses in Technical Sciences, Economics and Art. It is a place of rich scientific, cultural, sporting and social life.
The TU of Košice is also an important partner for a number of foreign universities all over Europe, it is involved in many international projects mostly funded by the European Commission within EU programmes. The university is also involved in local and regional development.
The Department of Languages consists of two sections: English and German and it offers English, German, French and Russian classes as well and Slovak for foreign students. Based on the tradition, the department provides language tuition in the framework of bachelor and master level of study for all the faculties of the Technical University. It also administers the TOEFL tests.
